Flemings of Rosyth, a removals, storage, and distribution specialist based in Fife, Scotland, is celebrating a couple of anniversaries of late. Besides 2018 marking the company’s 50th year of operation, Flemings recently took delivery of its first Volvo trucks in 20 years. The two FL-210 12-tonne rigid trucks it received sport a Winter White paint finish accented with Ford Radiant Red paintwork. They also include day cabs integrated on a 5,000-millimetre chassis to accommodate the Adcliffe demountable body systems that Flemings uses.

The two Volvo FL-210 rigid models that Flemings of Rosyth recently received can accept 14 separate Adcliffe bodies that the company uses. The vehicles include a Volvo D5K four-cylinder Euro-6 engine and six-speed I-Sync automated gearbox. (Photo courtesy of Volvo.)
    Superb Utilisation

The rigids Flemings received include a 210-horsepower Volvo D5K four-cylinder Euro-6 engine, six-speed overdrive I-Sync automated gearbox, and RSS0819A rear drive axles (3.73:1 ratio). The vehicles also feature bench passenger seating and chassis-mounted storage boxes to carry Ad Blue containers.

Currently, Flemings has 14 individual Adcliffe bodies it can use with its new Volvo FLs, which Volvo bills as “perfect for urban transportation.” Andrew Fleming, Flemings of Rosyth director, says the ability to use the different Adcliffe bodies with the FLs “gives us superb vehicle utilisation.”

    Comprehensive Specification

John and Hilda Fleming founded Flemings of Rosyth in 1968, initially focusing the company on transporting potatoes. The company later expanded to include removals and, today, it operates across the U.K. and Europe with a 10-truck mixed fleet supported by 33 employees. The company, which also owns the document-destruction Simply Shredding operation, counts nine Luton-style vans among in fleet, as well.

In a news release, Andrew Fleming said, “Volvo offered us a very comprehensive specification that could not be equalled by other makers. We required several additional items, such as differential locks and ferry lashing hooks. Nothing was a problem during the specification process, and we will certainly look at Volvo again for future vehicle purchases.”

If you’re in the market for a new or used Volvo Trucks or equipment, you can find numerous models for sale on TruckLocator.co.uk. There are, for instance, many trucks available in the FL series, including used Volvo FL220 trucks for sale.
