An extensive study conducted by Highways England in conjunction with Bridgestone has revealed the extent to which tyre safety plays a significant role in influencing the number of incidents which occur on motorways across the country.Vast amounts of data was collected as part of far-reaching research into the most common causes for tyre failure, as well as how this can lead to collisions, injuries and fatalities.The results of the investigation were made public during the CV Show in Birmingham this week, with close to 75 per cent of all accidents on major highways of the UK traced back to poorly maintained tyres.Lasting over a year and a half, the study involved the collection of tyre debris from various routes, with analysis carried out to determine what had caused the issues in the first place. ...
