They're Cheap and keep going
For what you have to pay to buy one they're good workhorses and don't cost an arm and a leg to keep on the road
Tough and comfortable at the same time. It does the job well.
For the last few years I have been driving a Renault Kerax 8x4 tipper of 2008 vintage. Working in the quarrying and aggregates sector, our trucks need to be tough and the Kerax is certainly that. It’s a powerful beast, too, with 460hp and an excellent payload, so no complaints there either. The cabin is surprisingly comfortable, aided by an air-suspended seat, and the general layout of the dash is clear and easy to read. Visibility is an issue in my job and the wide windscreen and thin pillars of the Kerax help give a good view of the winding tracks and activity around the truck.
I find that the OptiDriver+ gearbox needs a bit more manual intervention than I would like and the hard plastics in the cab are a bit scratchy but apart from that I have no complaints.
