SDC Trailers are a Northern Irish firm, founded in Toomebridge in 1978. They have grown quickly, partly due to the acquisitions of first Neville Charrol in 1994 and then MDF in 1998. Today the company has three manufacturing plants, at Antrim and Toomebridge in Northern Ireland and Mansfield in England, and it offers one of the widest selections of trailers available in Europe.

Those manufacturing plants are modern and efficient and the trailers are made to a rigorous six-stage production process. The latest 3D modelling and stress-analysis software is used to design the trailer. Laser and plasma cutters then cut all metalwork for the most precise fit.

SDC Skeletal TrailerChassis are shot-blasted to achieve the smoothest finish prior to painting, using a sophisticated two-pack process. The trailer is then assembled by bolting the body to the chassis. This preserves the integrity of the paint finish and makes for easy repairs. The trailers then undergo a full quality-control check of every component.

SDC’s range of trailers encompasses boxvans, curtainsiders, tippers, skeletal, flatbeds and dropsides. The semi trailer range offers lengths of 14.55 and 15.65 metres, complete with command steer and self-steer systems. Stepframe variants are also offered. The high-volume trailer (HVT) range can be fitted with the company’s adaptive aerodynamic resistance technology to deliver better fuel economy and reduce carbon emissions.

Buy British 4.5/5 by Simon French There are plenty of good foreign trailers around - why bother when the SDC trailers perform so well. I like the way they are coming up with new concepts as well.
