Sweeper Trucks For Sale

Road Sweeper trucks keep the streets of towns and cities across the country clean, allowing for the speedy and efficient removal of unsightly debris. And the models commonly used across the UK are also equipped with powerwash technology to allow for a range of other substances to be purged from road surfaces at the same time.

Truck-mounted sweepers are built to be rugged and reliable, but if you are selecting a second-hand model, it is still sensible to scrutinise its various features to ensure that it is in a decent condition. There are also a number of specification variations that should be taken into account when you are scouring the market for an appropriate vehicle.

A typical sweeper truck will feature a standard cab at the front, coupled with a sweeper body at the rear. Because the sweeper will require plenty of power to keep the brushes spinning and the water pumping, there will usually be an auxiliary engine to deliver this. So there are a number of mechanical elements that require your attention when buying a used example.

Size is ImportantRoad Sweepers for sale

Another thing to consider is the size of the sweeper itself, which will be relevant to the type of environment in which it is intended to be used. Compact models are better suited to use in narrow streets, where there will be a limited amount of space for manoeuvring, while deployment in industrial areas and other open spaces may make this less of a concern when you are buying a sweeper truck.

As with all trucks, you will need to consider the maximum payload of a sweeper to assess its worthiness, because this determines how much ground it can cover in a typical session before it needs to be relieved of the materials that it has collected. The same goes for the liquid capacity available to it to supply the powerwash components. Meanwhile, the dual sweep set-up may be desirable if you want to be able to use the sweeper irrespective of the direction or lane in which it is travelling. Many sweeper trucks come with a range of powerwashing capabilities, including extras such as a power lance. These make them more versatile and allow them to be used in a variety of cleaning scenarios. When it comes to improving productivity, these are the kinds of features that may be desirable.

Dual Sweep Commonplace

The dual sweep set-up may be common, but there are other sweeper configurations available, including models that have full-width brushes and different washing facilities. Because most sweeper trucks need to be effective in urban environments, two axles are generally to be expected. And whatever the particular specifications of a second-hand sweeper, you should endeavour to ensure that all systems are fully operational. Inspection should not only take into account the state of the cab and truck bed, but also any movable add-ons such as any reel-based power lance and the accompanying water tank. Smaller sweepers are an option, but when it comes to big jobs and repeat commissions, sweeper trucks are the best option for most buyers.
