Scaffold Body Trucks For Sale

Trucks with scaffold bodies take the standard flatbed format and adapt this to deal with the transportation of scaffolding, often dealing with specific lengths and payloads depending on the requirements of the contractor in question. So when buying a used scaffold truck, you need to get a thorough rundown of the features of the body while also paying close attention to the condition of the vehicle. Smaller trucks around the 7.5 tonne range can be found alongside larger 18 and even 26 tonne vehicles, so it is simply a case of deciding which type of scaffold body will be appropriate for your intended deployment.

The most basic form of scaffold truck will feature a relatively unadorned flatbed trailer on the rear, accompanied by a day cab for three crew members. Post holes and bolsters may be included to give you the flexibility to configure the load space in whatever way you choose. And in general, this type of truck is the most adaptable around - if not necessarily being well suited to very specific scenarios.

DAF CF Scaffold TruckDropside scaffold bodies are another popular option, capable of accommodating payloads safely and efficiently while also ensuring that loading and unloading can be carried out with minimal delay. Longer 30ft bodies can be chosen by those that need to make room for larger beams and towers. And irrespective of the type of body that is chosen, a buyer of a used scaffold truck should scrutinise the state of the load bed, undercarriage and suspension to ensure that the heavy equipment being transported has not left the vehicle in need of expensive maintenance work.

Purpose-Built Scaffold Bodies - A Must

In the cab, features such as electric windows and heated mirrors, along with CD players, air conditioning and other luxuries may be found and should be checked to see that they are operational. Steel-spring or air suspension will help to carry the scaffolding smoothly, providing there is not too much wear and tear on the components. A purpose-built scaffold body is an undeniable advantage for commercial contractors that need to transport this type of equipment. And one of the key benefits is that the body will be built to weigh as little impossible, which helps to improve fuel efficiency and thus reduce running costs. Being able to build in racks to house the scaffolding safely will be better than allowing it to sit loose in the rear, further increasing the relevance of these customised trucks.

While a range of older scaffold trucks is on offer, there are also more modern examples which have the bonus of offering lower emission engines and exhaust systems. A select group of these trucks come with integrated crane equipment to allow for heavy beams to be loaded without a separate machine being needed. And if cutting-edge features and secondary hydraulics are present, it is important to inspect them and ensure that all accessories and spare parts are there when buying a used scaffold truck. This will give you the best chance of selecting a vehicle that will be good value for money.
