Used Renault Magnum Tractor Units for Sale

2 Average

The Renault Magnum range enjoyed almost a quarter of a century at the pinnacle of the truck market, making light work of heavy-duty haulage tasks and winning various accolades in the process. This means that if you want a used Magnum tractor unit, you will have no shortage of options available to you.

Magnum models from throughout its production life are still on offer, with both left- and right-hand drive variants on offer, depending on where you want to deploy the vehicle in question. While there are standard 4x2 and 6x2 Magnum tractor units on offer, there are also 6x4 iterations which are even more capable of pulling high-capacity payloads in unforgiving conditions. So make sure that any used model has been maintained to a high standard and still works as intended, even if there are a lot of miles on the dial.

While the T series may have moved in to replace it, the Magnum range was built right up until 2013, meaning you can benefit from modern Euro 5 engines on board the later models which can cut emissions and reduce fuel consumption in one fell swoop.

Models will also offer impressive auto gearbox technology utilising the I-Shift and Optidrive systems with a dual-clutch set-up and electronic management, delivering further fuel savings and increasing the efficiency and ease with which a Magnum tractor unit can be driven. Power from 440hp to 500hp is offered by the engines of the Magnum range, so check this element on a used model to make sure it can cope with whatever loads you will require it to pull.

The modern Euro 5 engines on board some Magnum tractor units also benefit from the Optibrake engine brake while also offering improved torque and total fuel savings of up to three per cent. Driving a heavy truck can be an exhausting business, but Renault’s top-tier tractor units can keep drivers cool, calm and collected.

Recent Magnum models offer air suspension, although if you are looking to secure a legacy unit, then spring suspension is more common. You can still procure older models with comfort features such as air conditioning. And the size of the cabs is good on all Magnum tractor units, meaning that drivers will not feel cramped even on models with two bunks rather than one. Extras may have been specified by previous owners, so look out for units that feature things such as fridges, microwaves and other equipment that make them into a versatile living space that can help drivers adapt to life on the road over long distances with multiple overnight stops.

Other things to look out for when selecting a Renault Magnum tractor unit are any additional exterior features such as beacons, light bars, side skirts and more. The size of the fuel tanks and the type of material used in their construction may also be on your checklist, so do not hesitate to request an inspection of the vehicle before you buy if it is practical to carry this out from your location.
