Pick Ups Trucks For Sale

Pickup trucks can be practical and workmanlike and also offer elements of prestige and luxury, bridging the gap between standard SUVs and commercial vehicles. But above all they need to be reliable and capable of making light work of a variety of loads.

When buying a second-hand pickup, it is important to consider things such as the mileage and service history, as well as to look at the features that are included in the cabin, the number of passengers that can be accommodated and the maximum payload a vehicle is capable of carrying or towing, depending on your needs.

A dedicated pickup truck body shape can feature two or four doors, with room for between two and five passengers on board. The load bed in the rear will usually be integrated as part of the rigid chassis, and many models come with detachable hard top covers that can keep this area free from the impact of inclement weather while also providing extra security for whatever materials or equipment are kept within.

There are many different models of pickup within this category, built by companies such as Nissan, Toyota and Ford. You may want to look out for models that include towing attachments at the rear if you want to add a trailer or any other secondary unit to this type of vehicle. A double-cab pickup may be useful for crew work, and as long as the marque is reputable and maintenance has been carried out regularly, high mileage need not be a limiting factor when shopping second-hand.

Want a Lifestyle Vehicle?

Car-like pickups that have things such as leather upholstery, climate control and impressive entertainment features to complement the functional rear load space are available alongside more functional and less flashy alternatives. SWB pickup vans with alloy bodies are light, versatile and capable of accommodating heavier loads. There are models with dropside beds for ease of unloading, offering an intriguing alternative to the standard panel van that might otherwise be high on your wish list. The type of pickup you select will depend entirely on what you plan to use it for, so if you will be chauffeuring VIPs around a site rather than carrying building materials from A to B, this should inform your decision-making.

Buying a Used Pick Up Truck

As well as assessing the condition of the brakes, tyres and engine of a pickup, you should give special consideration to the state of any cover that may be included to protect the load bed. Fastenings and locks on this element may have been put under strain as a result of regular removal and replacement of this accessory, so it is sensible to check the extent of any wear and tear. If a pickup has been well looked after by previous owners, then it should continue to serve a new buyer well. And this category can even include the likes of the Land Rover Defender, which is a popular pickup choice in the agricultural sector. Just make sure that you take time to inspect used trucks so that you can get the right vehicle for the job.
