Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Trucks For Sale

One of the German manufacturer’s most successful ranges of commercial vehicles, the Sprinter is hugely versatile and useful for anyone in the market for a smaller truck or van. Ever since rolling off the production line nearly two decades ago, the Sprinter has come in the form of a minibus, pick-up truck, crew cab van or minivan.

Part of the Sprinter’s success can be put down to its engines. The most powerful available is for the 219, 319, 419 and 519 models, a V6 with an impressive 190bhp. In terms of size, the biggest in the Sprinter range weighs around 18 tonnes, mainly in minibus form. The smaller models tend to weigh around 3.5 tonnes, making them perfect for smaller jobs.

Sprinter vans can be used for a variety of purposes, but they really come into their own as large vans. With the range set to be revamped later this year, there will be plenty of used versions coming onto the market, many with the reworked V6 diesel engine.
Mercedes Sprinter

The four-cylinder engines available for some of the earlier models had either 95bhp, 129bhp or, for the larger vehicles, 163bhp. Most of the newer engines built to comply with Euro 5 have around 8% more power than those built beforehand.

The most recent engine built to date for the Sprinter range was the OM 651 four-cylinder diesel. Although less powerful than the V6, the engine is still sufficient enough for light-duty work such as transporting people around or making parcel deliveries. The newer engines are typically more economical.

In terms of cab choice, the Sprinter comes in crewcab form, as a tractor unit or as a run-of-the-mill panel van with just a driver and passenger seat. They can be used to tow trailers weighing up to 3.5 tonnes.

On top of that, every van or truck in the Sprinter range has the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), known as Adaptive ESP. it helps to notify drivers when they’re reaching a dangerous stretch of road.

Mercedes Sprinter In a Nutshell

The Sprinter is a must-have for anyone who wants a top-class van or light-duty truck capable of doing those small jobs without having to worry about reliability or fuel economy.
