Used Iveco Stralis Tractor Units for Sale

2.5 Average

The Stralis is Iveco’s heavy transport truck of choice, with used tractor units from this range giving more operators the opportunity to experience the benefits that it offers. Although the Stralis has undergone a recent update, there are still lots of reasons to pick up a second-hand model, not least because this usually represents good value for money.

With Euro 4 and 5 engines on many examples, along with clever cab design and stylish exterior touches, a Stralis tractor unit is an unabashed trail-blazer. It just falls to buyers to take care that they buy a used model which is ready to hit the road rather than one which could do with some work.

The Strails was the recipient of a number of awards when it received a major overhaul in 2013, so if you can invest in used units from this latest era, then you will have access to a critically acclaimed tractor unit which is about as well optimised as a truck can be in the modern age. Air resistance is reduced thanks to the aerodynamic design of the cab, which also means that it looks better than its predecessors. Iveco was keen to achieve any improvements without reducing the character of the cab’s design, and it certainly achieved this.

While aerodynamics reign outside, within the cab everything is eminently ergonomic. The trio of cab options available accommodate sleeping quarters, seats and various technical aids with ease. Everything can be managed from the dash-mounted Iveconnect system, with touchscreen controls that are easy to master. Not all of these features are available as standard, and older units will not have access to the same prestigious hardware. But the whole Stralis range has benefited from similar forward-thinking inclusions over the years, so it remains competitive when compared with equivalent models from rival manufacturers.

Manual gearboxes are available on the Stralis tractor unit range, but many operators will have opted for automatic alternatives to take some strain off the driver over long stints behind the wheel. The latest Eurotronic system not only offers intelligent and efficient shifting, but also integrates some of the controls into the steering column so that they can be altered with a flick of a finger while the driver’s attention remains focused on the road ahead.

4x2 and 6x2 Stralis tractor units of various ages are offered second-hand. And even if you are looking at models with Euro 3 engines rather than the latest Euro 6 power plants, the number of units which are still operating after years on the road shows that these trucks are mechanically sound and capable of being maintained to a high standard over a long period. Air suspension, disc brakes and air conditioning can be found on many models, so if you have a long list of features you want to get out of a tractor unit, then the Stralis range may meet your criteria, not least because its popularity ensures that there is plenty of choice for buyers on the second-hand market.
