Iveco Eurotech Trucks For Sale

2 Average

The Iveco Eurotech began life in 1992 and enjoyed a decade as one of the world’s most respected trucks in the market of large-scale distribution. As a result, you can still find well-looked-after examples of the Eurotech range available second-hand, with engines starting at 230hp and hitting 420hp for the most powerful models, making light work of long-distance trips across multiple countries.

It may have been replaced by the Stralis, but the Eurotech remains a reputable family of trucks that could be a good choice for a used purchase. Eurotech trucks are typically sold as solo tractor units today, although there are models with rigid flatbed bodies or a number of other configurations at the rear available if you are willing to search for them or are patient enough to wait for one to appear on the second-hand market.

Iveco Eurotech launched.
Truck of the year
Eurotech won International Truck of the Year.

Iveco EurotechA total of six different engines were deployed across the range, offering levels of power and fuel consumption which were commendable at the time of their creation. Most tractor units feature a standard 4x2 axle set-up, although a 6x2 model with an additional axle was introduced to increase the maximum payload. Manual and automatic gearboxes are a feature of this range, although the latter are less common. For Eurotech trucks that have a lot of miles on the clock, it is essential to get as much information as possible regarding the history of the vehicle, including any maintenance and repair work which has been carried out, so that you know what to expect. The tractor units are generally reliable and can be coupled with different bodies to suit the buyer’s needs.

The Eurotech range encompassed some models featuring flatbed and full beavertail bodies, complete with the introduction of hydraulically operated ramps at the rear to allow plant equipment to be loaded on to the back and transported efficiently from site to site. Such models must cope with heavy machinery and as such can feature benefits such as air suspension as well as hydraulic winches to help pull stubborn kit on to the load bed in as little time as possible. As with any used truck, check to see what a second-hand Eurotech model has to offer in terms of accessories and extra components. Some units will come with onboard toolboxes, as well as things such as working lights, support legs and much more besides.

Later model Eurotech trucks feature the kinds of in-cab comforts that have become commonplace in the years since the range was discontinued. You can find models with electric windows, air conditioning and other modern conveniences, although of course the older 40 tonne tractor units may be more basic because of their age. This should be taken into account in the price, as should the overall condition of the unit. Pay close attention to the tyres, suspension and any electronic or hydraulic systems that are on board. If anything goes awry, then you will have to pay for it, so spotting issues before a sale is complete can help you to avoid unsuitable Eurotech models and instead help you to pinpoint the best candidates for the job.

A great truck for its time and probably still serviceable by today’s standards. 4/5 by Bill Smyth I drove one of these in the mid to late 1990s as our firm standardised on them. It won International Truck of the Year in 1993, I recall, so I guess they were doing something right. Mine was a 4x2... Read full review
