Although this model was discontinued towards the end of the last decade, models in the Isuzu NPR truck range are still widely used. Before being replaced by the Isuzu N50 and N62 Forward, the NPR was the manufacturer’s main mid-range 7.5 tonner.
Before it was phased out, the NPR was very popular among urban delivery operators. They liked how it delivered the extra payload needed without being as bulky as a typical 7.5 tonner. As a result of its surprisingly large payload, NPR trucks were sometimes converted into recovery vehicles, often with great success and minimum fuss. Anyone wanting a mid-range truck for a low price would do well to buy an NPR while they still can.

Another part of the NPR’s enduring appeal is their versatility. For the ordinary urban delivery operator, they can be turned into a curtainside truck, as proved by the NPR Curtainside, while they also prove to be equally adept as tippers.
NPRs come with a variety of cab types – narrow cabs and crew cabs are amongst the most common. This 1999 Isuzu NPR comes with a crew cab, providing ample seating for up to six people. Crew cabs were ideal for big jobs such as construction and recovery.
More recent versions of the NPR have been used in a variety of ways. The 2008 Isuzu NPR, for example, has a Luton body and a powerful diesel engine that provides extra storage space without increasing the weight of the vehicle too much.
Although production of the NPR ceased in 2008, some types are still in high demand. Two prime examples are the NPR Tippers and NPR Recovery vehicles, both of which have crew cabs fitted as standard.
Even though it has been replaced by Isuzu, the NPR is everything a truck driver could hope for – it’s trustworthy, versatile and surprisingly nimble. Put simply: They remain popular for a reason.
