Used DAF XF Tractor Units for Sale

3.5 Average

A DAF XF tractor unit comes from a range that can boast some market-leading figures relating to cab space and fuel efficiency. And this is why a used XF model can make long-haul journeys fly by at a lower cost than many of its rivals. While DAF is far from being the only manufacturer in the long-distance road transport market, the XF is an enduring reminder that it might be the best in the business.

Things are a little more complicated when picking a second-hand XF tractor unit, because of course there are a few more variables to consider during the selection process. But finding vehicles that are mechanically sound, affordably priced and packed with features is not difficult if you are willing to commit your full attention to the search.

Powered by PACCAR engines, the latest DAF XF tractor units are capable of complying with Euro 6 emissions regulations. Even the older Euro 5 and Euro 4 engines are bearing up well after many years in service, with good delivery of power and modest fuel consumption thanks to the way that software manages everything going on within the power plant at the heart of the tractor unit.

Efforts to reduce maintenance costs and complications are ongoing, with modern XF engines combining the fuel filter with the heater and water separator in a single unit that can be accessed without trouble. And so if you invest in an XF tractor unit which was built just a short time ago, then you can be confident in its credentials for the long term.

DAF makes every effort to increase driver comfort by building some of the roomiest cabs in the business, with the XF tractor units benefiting from interior designs that make the most of every millimetre available. The Super Space Cab is especially impressive, thanks to the 12.6 cubic metres of space found within it. A well thought-out dash, with instruments where they should be, can be found on board, along with lots of storage space beneath the bunk in the back and plenty of legroom for drivers while they are behind the wheel or getting some sleep during overnight stops. Well-rested drivers are better able to perform their jobs effectively, so selecting a second-hand XF tractor unit from DAF may be something you do with factors such as this in mind.

DAF has made a number of optimisations to the XF platform over the years from which its tractor units benefit. These include an increase in fuel tank capacity, new suspension on all axles and service intervals which can fall once every 150,000 kilometres. When it comes to cutting operating costs, this is the kind of thing that long-distance haulage operators need to consider when choosing a truck. Various features have been made standard to set the XF tractor units apart from their peers, including driver assistance systems. And even if your budget will not accommodate a recent XF variant, the older generations still have a lot to offer operators.
