The Euro 6 DAF CF range features three distinct cab set-ups, with the Space Cab pushing boundaries in terms of the amount of room that is offered within. This cab is built to a height of 2.23 metres, while the smaller sleeper and day cabs offer excellent proportions for their class.
Comfort and convenience are not the only things on offer inside, as DAF has also integrated a number of cutting-edge features, including a system which monitors performance and helps to inform the driver about the current efficiency of their driving to allow for improvements to be made and fuel to be saved. The highly visible dash instrumentation, as well as the controls that are built into the steering wheel, help to make the CF truck range very easy to drive.
The engines powering DAF CF trucks are built to offer enough pulling power to get the job done while reducing the emissions and fuel consumption. The Euro 6 power plants range in output from 290hp to 510hp, while both manual and automatic gearboxes are available for all models, depending on preference and budget. The engine even makes efficient use of excess energy to help compress air to allow for braking without additional fuel consumption, which is a welcome addition.
The chassis of the CF cabs is surprisingly light, which might cause concerns about the robustness of the entire assembly. But it is also stiff and strong, with a modern linkage system at the rear allowing a range of body types to be attached while maintaining stability and safety levels. This also helps to enhance handling, which is crucial for trucks of this type, especially as they may be required to take on a variety of roles on various road types, from urban streets to motorways and beyond.
The construction version of the DAF CF offers higher ground clearance so that uneven surfaces do not cause damage to its underside, while various other elements of the chassis, cab and body construction are beefed up to prevent wear and tear from showing earlier than expected. Weighing in at between 32 and 44 tonnes, these trucks are suitable for various operations. And since Euro 6 engines are also present, there is no need to skimp on efficiency. Buying a used DAF CF is a desire for many organisations, although it is worth checking up on the specifications to assess whether or not a second-hand model will be a good fit.
