The haulage industry is packed full of specialist trucks to cater for a huge variety of applications and specialist niches. Even your microwaveable chicken ready meal is brought to you courtesy of a specialist fridge lorry. The major manufacturers have branched out to offer factory-built versions of many of these trucks, growing profits by extending their product range into specific niches. One truck type, however, is the foundation of them all and that is the chassis cab.
The chassis cab comes into its own when an ideal body type is not available ex-factory. The major truck builders will cater for markets where there is sufficient demand to make retooling their assembly lines economically viable, but there are plenty of specialist areas where this is not a possibility.
