Beavertail trucks are capable of streamlining the process of loading wheeled equipment on to a trailer, meaning that the use of a secondary machine is not required. As well as speeding up this important process, it means that operators do not need to be trained in the use of cranes, which would otherwise be necessary to achieve the same results. Second-hand beavertail trucks come with bodies of different lengths and feature a variety of cab options up front. And because these trucks will have had to take on heavy plant equipment, everything from the suspension to the chassis and rear ramps will have to be inspected to ensure it is in an appropriate condition for sale.
The beavertail name applied to this kind of truck is appropriate because it describes the visual effect given by the drop-off end and twin ramps typically found at the end of the trailer. Basic models feature ramps which must be deployed manually, although it is also worth pointing out that not all second-hand trailers will be sold with the ramps, so you should check the description and contact the seller for a full rundown of the features in each case.
